New Resources About HIV Medicines for Children and Young People

We’re excited to announce the launch a new set of resources for health professionals to use when working with children and young people living with HIV, to help support them to take their medication.

We’ve collaborated closely with young people living with HIV, health professionals and Aidsmap to develop these resources with funding provided by ViiV.

The resources address the real needs and concerns of young people navigating HIV treatment, for whom taking daily medication can be difficult, hard to remember or sometimes an unwelcome reminder of HIV.

The set of resources includes an information booklet explaining in simple terms about all the different types of HIV medication, as well as information sheets on topics such as contraception, PEP, PrEP, and the ongoing search for an HIV cure.

Alongside the information packs, we have produced a series of animations to make the information engaging and accessible for everyone. These animations cover; how HIV medication works, the best practices for taking it, potential side effects and how to manage them as well as using contraception alongside HIV medication.

All of the resources and animations can be found here: www.chiva.org.uk/my-medicine-my-health

If you are a health professional working with young people living with HIV and would like printed copies of the resources free, please email sam.williams@chiva.org.uk.

This initiative aims at empowering and educating individuals living with HIV and their support networks with the knowledge and resources they need to manage their health and wellbeing.
