Perinatal Virtual Clinic (PVC)
There is also a Perinatal Virtual Clinic (PVC) which is a forum for discussing complex cases involving children and young adults living with HIV, and for the prevention of vertical transmission (PVT). The clinic is held on Microsoft Teams on the first Thursday of the month, 9-10am GMT.
You may consider referring a case for discussion here in the following cases:
- Starting a child or young adult on ART
- Virological failure or resistance
- Long-acting treatments
- Co-infection
- Malignancy
- Changes in ART to simplify or update regimen
- Pregnant mothers with HIV not virally suppressed
To refer a case for discussion please complete the appropriate slidedeck below, with patient details anonymised, and email this to caroline.foster5@nhs.net.
In urgent cases, the appropriate healthcare professionals involved in the patient’s care can have a discussion with the PVC team without waiting for the next virtual clinic date, to avoid any delays. The PVC is supported by members of the Penta Training Network.
